Viola L. Bandlow

Viola L. Bandlow, 90, a lifelong resident of Richmond, died Friday, March 16, 2012. She was born in Richmond, September 6, 1921, the daughter of the late Arthur and Clara (Huwe) Krause of German ancestry. Viola married Edward Bandlow on September 18, 1943 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Richmond. Edward, her husband of 59 years, died September 28, 2002. Viola was a 1938 graduate of Richmond High School. She was a 21 year employee with the IGA grocery chain in Richmond and retired in 1987. Viola was a lifetime member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Richmond, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Also, she was a lifetime member of the church’s LLA and served that organization as a volunteer and in administrative areas. “Ole”, as she was affectionately known, was a woman of quiet compassion. Her courage, strength, and determination in the face of life’s challenges is a lesson for us all. Viola’s love was her children and grandchildren. Her endless gift of time will be a treasured memory. As hard as it is to say good-bye, others who have gone before are greeting her with open arms, “Welcome Home, Vi”. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Neal and Carol Bandlow of Oneida, N.Y., two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Rodney Delaney of Columbus and Linda and Daniel McIntyre of Richmond; five grandchildren Dana (Ed) Paehlig, Daren (Maria) Delaney, Lindsay and Kyle (Melanie) McIntyre and Nicole Bandlow (John Coy) and three great-grandchildren Emma Jayne and Evan Coy and Hayden Paehlig; a brother Kenneth (Jacqueline) Krause as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Denna Delaney and seven siblings, Harvey Krause, Cloris Hartway, Rena Russ, Marie Baars, Orville “Doc”, Vern “Butch” and Erwin “Jiggs” Krause. Her family honors the memory of Viola and invite you to visit and share memories Monday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday with 10:00 a.m. visiting at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Richmond. Rev. Randy Lett will officiate. Burial will be in Richmond Cemetery, Richmond. Memorials are suggested to “Wishes of the Family”.
