Raymond Thomas Cowhy

Raymond Thomas Cowhy, age 84, passed away in his residence on June 12, 2010 with his family by his side. He was born on January 10, 1926 in Kenockee Township to the late Walter and Elizabeth (Grace) Cowhy. Raymond married Margaret (Pudge) Mackey on June 20, 1953 in Emmett MI. She passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2004 after 51 years of marriage. Ray proudly served in the Korean War. Ray graduated from Yale High School in 1944 and worked for the United States Post Office as a Rural Mail Carrier in Avoca for 30 years and retired in 1988. Ray enjoyed working his land and farming with his son Larry. He loved Notre Dame and enjoyed going to football games with his children. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He was a great Dad! Raymond was a life member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Emmett MI. He also was a member of the Sharpe Gleason Butler VFW Post #5585, and a member of the Knights of Columbus John F. Farrell Council #7918. Raymond is survived by his eight children, Mary Therese (Don) Ekelund of Marysville, Timothy (Barb) Cowhy of Kenockee Twp, Peggy (Al) Pisciotta of Fort Gratiot, Mark (Diane) Cowhy of Semi Valley CA, Barb Cowhy of Port Huron, Karen (John) Morgan of Fort Gratiot, Rose (Dan) Jakubiak of Wales Twp., Larry Cowhy of Kenockee Twp., four grandchildren, Laura Cowhy (Nick Reynolds), Megan Cowhy, Angela Pisciotta (Stewert West) and Nick Pisciotta and many step-grandchildren and several step great grandchildren. Sisters and Brothers in-law, Ellen Jane Koppinger, Patsy and Ed Neaton, Jack and Maureen Mackey, Kate Sholtis, Gertrude Kean and Tillie and Jack Hazelman along with many nieces and nephews. His five brothers, Robert, Esper, Frances, Leo, and Vincent Cowhy preceded him in death along with two son-in-laws Dr. Mahmoud Chafty and John Pozdrowski. His family honors the memory of Raymond and invites you to visit and share memories Wednesday 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond, with rosary devotion services at 6:00 pm. Rite of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Thursday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church with 10:00 am visiting. Fr. Jim Kean, his godson, will officiate. Burial with Military Honors by the VFW Post #5585 will be at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Kenockee Cemetery.
