James Phillip Peltier

James Phillip Peltier Age 77, of Greenwood Township, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. He was born March 24, 1936 in Grosse Pointe the son of the late William and Dorothy (Miller) Peltier. His marriage to Rosalind “Roz” (Wells) was August 17, 1957. After 53 years of marriage Roz passed away December 22, 2010. Jim had worked in the shipyards in River Rouge, including the Edmund Fitzgerald, which started his love of the Great Lakes and freighters which endured his lifetime. He was employed as a Tool Crib Attendant for the General Motors Corporation for 30 years until his retirement in 1998. Jim loved spending time with his family, the outdoors, working on his home and in the yard and gardens. He enjoyed casino’s, including weekend trips, horse racing, creating wood and glass etched items and had a passion for classic movies. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yale. He is survived by his loving family of seven children David (Terri), Denise (Dale) Eschenburg, James (Kelly), Kenneth, Dorothy (Jose’ Carmen) Garcia, Carol Ann and Rebecca (Daniel) Benedict; grandchildren, Michael, Derek (Nichole), Melissa (Matt) Fahey and Aaron Peltier, Amanda (Jeremy) Reusser, David and Elizabeth McCall, Kenneth Peltier and Pedro, Jose’ and Juan Garcia; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Lucas Peltier, Cole and Madison Peltier and Cade Reusser; brother, Michael (Sue) Peltier; sister-in-law, Gayle Brdak as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, special friend Kay Scholtis and many friends. He was preceded in death by siblings, Gary, Billy and Betty. The family honors the memory of James and invite you to visit and share memories Saturday, April 20, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 21, 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale. Rite of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 22, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yale, with 10:00 a.m. visiting at the funeral home. Fr. Tom Kuehnemund, pastor, will officiate.
