Goldie Amelia Stern

Goldie Amelia Stern 86, of Capac, died Sunday March 4, 2007, at Marwood Manor Nursing Home, Port Huron. She was born September 18, 1920 in Lynn Twp., the daughter of the late Louis and Minnie Schmidt Sass. She was predeceased by her husband Donald of 54 years in 1993, her son Roy in 1949, and daughter-in-law Sally in 2006. She is survived by her children Ray of Imlay City, Gary and Norma of Lapeer, Dennis and Karla of Washington Twp., Mark of Capac and sister Pearl Klug of Yale and grandchildren Penny, Tracy, Margaret, Audey, Raney and Ken Miracle, Jay and Pam Spencer, Heidi and Gary Grub, Todd and Carol, Marci and Ron Goodrich, Cassie and David Malarczyk, Travis and Tonya Stern; numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was a faithful Christian who loved the Lord and her family. She was extremely talented at crocheting, knowing numerous patterns by heart. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles. Her family remembers her great skill of home baked goods especially her homemade bread and coffee cake and pies. The Tri-City Times once recognized her for her award winning butterscotch pie. She loved all animals and loved the T.V. show Animal Planet. She was a loyal Detroit Tigers fan all of her life. She was always up to date on the news and current events, as she loved reading the Port Huron Times Herald, the Lapeer County Press, and the Tri-City Times. She was a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Capac where she was baptized, confirmed, and married. She will be sadly missed by family and friends but are joyful that she is now in the arms of her Lord and Saviour. Her family honors the memory of Goldie and invite you to visit and share Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Capac. Funeral services wil be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Capac, with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Rev. Joan Christoffers, pastor, will officiate. Final resting place will be Imlay Township Cemetery, Imlay Twp. In Lieu of flowers her request was that memorials be made to the St. John’s Lutheran Church Building Fund, 109 E.
