Cheryl A. Holka

Cheryl A. Holka Age 49, of Chesterfield Twp., passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 19, 1957, in Yale, the daughter of Pastor Woodrow and Ruth Nelson. Cheryl resided in Port Huron for the first 47 years and had just recently moved to Chesterfield Twp. where she enjoyed spending every moment of the previous two years being close to family and friends. Cheryl was an active member of Columbus Bible Church where she taught a women's bible study as well as children's church for many years. Cheryl was also a voracious reader who preferred curling up with a good book over watching television. She was an avid golfer who relished many summer days out on the open greens with her darling brother Dennis and her golf buddy and close childhood friend Pam Wolfe. Above all else, Cheryl was a loving daughter, doting mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and many, many friends. She leaves to cherish her memory, her parents, Pastor Woodrow and Rum A. Nelson of Columbus, her three loving children, Jennifer J. (Ryan) Cassidy, Jessica A. Holka, and Jeffery S. Holka Jr., her only and precious grandson, Jacob J. Holka; three wonderful brothers and two sisters-in-law, Woodrow Jr. and Penny Nelson, Dennis and Natalie Nelson and Martin Nelson. Cheryl loved children and was blessed with a large family and will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews, Karl Nelson, Nathan Nelson, Sadie Bricker, Nicole Walsh, Travis nelson, Avery Nelson, Krystal Nelson and many great-nieces and nephews. Her family honors the memory of Cheryl and invite you to visit and share Saturday and Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond, and attend funeral services 11:00 a.m. Monday at Columbus Bible Church, Columbus Township, with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Rev. Woodrow Nelson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Kittridge Cemetery, Columbus Township.
