Barbara J. "Bobbie" Orton

Barbara J. “Bobbie” Orton 71, of Prudenville and formerly of Emmett, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010, at West Branch Regional Medical Center, West Branch. She was born in Hazel Park, Tuesday, March 7, 1939, the daughter of the late Harold and Lillian (Macka) Roosa. Her marriage to Alfred Orton was February 16, 1957, in Hazel Park. Barbara lived in Emmett from 1984 through 2002 when she retired from Ford Sterling Axle Plant, after 25 years of service, and moved to Prudenville. She was a former parishioner of St. Isidore Catholic Church, Macomb and was actively involved with U.A.W. Local #228. Barbara loved helping animals of all kinds. She enjoyed riding her bicycle, planting flowers and her favorite “Hens and Chicks”, sewing and quilting (many of which were displayed at quilting shows). Barbara’s greatest love was helping people with her heart-of-gold. Surviving in addition to Alfred, her husband of 53 years, are two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila (Thomas) Hayden of Sterling Heights and Joyce (James) Fuller of Roseville, three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael (Patricia) of Emmett, Kenneth (Marianna) of Roseville, and Thomas (Sherri) Orton of Sterling Heights; eleven grandchildren, Todd, Eric, Penny, Heather, Jason, Marisa, Jacob, Adam, Sarah, Justin, and Olivia; seven great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Roy (Jan) Roosa and half-siblings, Russell Roosa, and Margie Roosa; step-brother, Larry Rumble as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Michael and brother, Harold Roosa Jr. Her family honors the memory of Barbara and invites you to visit and share memories Friday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale, with rosary devotion at 6:30 p.m. Rite of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Emmett, with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Fr. Janusz Marzynsky, visiting, will officiate. Burial will be in Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Kenockee Cemetery, Kenockee Township.
