Ted A. Molesworth

Ted Allen Molesworth 73, passed away on April 11,2008 following a lengthy illness. Ted Molesworth was born above the Melvin, Michigan Post Office on May 28,1934 to Vera and Marie (Alley) Molesworth. He graduated from Yale Public Schools in 1952 while working as a pinsetter at his father's bowling alley, Pin Echo Lanes, in Yale. Upon graduation, he started working full time for his father at Molesworth Contracting. Ted married Lela Hoopengarner September 13,1952 in the Yale Methodist Church and they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with family and friends, before Lela passed away July 4,2003. Ted took over the business of Molesworth Contracting in 1960 and by the time he retired in 1998 he also owned Molesworth Paving and Kammer Asphalt. Ted served as member and president of the Michigan Road Builders Association and Yale School Board. He also proudly served as a member of the Michigan Asphalt Paving Association, National Asphalt Paving Association, Association of General Contractors, Yale City Council, Yale Hospital Board, Yale Lions Club and Yale Masonic Lodge. Out of all of his business interests, associations and memberships, Ted will be remembered for his sense of humor and infectious laugh. If a good time was not to be had, he made it one! He will also be remembered for his big heart. Ted is survived by his sons Ted II (Susan) of Long Beach, MS, and Tod (Sherri) of Marana, AZ, daughters Terry Bondy of Lapeer and Jane (Mike) Kavanagh of Yale, 15 grandchildren, five great-granddaughters and one great-grandson, his sister Eloise "Pud" (Bill) Wilson of Ft. Gratiot and sister-in-law Theresa Hoopengarner of Ocala, FL, 10 nieces and nephews as well as his Danish “sons”, Jan and Kim Pederson. Ted is preceded in death by his parents and parents in law, twin sons Timmy and Tommy (1953), in-laws Ray (Junior) Hoopengarner and Thelma and Rex Amon. His family has chosen to honor Ted's life and invite you to visit and share the memories Sunday, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and attend funeral services 11:00 a.m. at the Yale Methodist Church. Internment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Yale. Rev. Jack Allen, pastor of the Yale First United Methodist Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Ted's name to Yale United Methodist Church.
