Susann M. (Kovach) Barr

Susann M. (Kovach) Barr 70, of Forester Township, formerly of Emmett, passed away unexpectedly Friday, December 13, 2012 at Deckerville Community Hospital. She was born in Port Huron, June 13, 1942, the daughter of the late Gerald and Helen (Brennan) Butler. Her marriage to Thomas Barr was September 29, 2009, in a beautiful outdoor setting in a park near Carsonville. Susann was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Emmett and a member of the Daughters of Isabel, Emmett. She worked many years at the Skill Center of Marysville (and formerly in Yale) before her early retirement. Susann was formerly on the Kenockee Township Planning Commission, past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #5585, Emmett and a proud member of the Irish-American Club of St. Clair County and enjoyed spending time with friends at the Ladies Birthday Club, Emmett. She liked spending winters in Florida, card club parties, and staying at campgrounds in their RV. Susann loved keeping busy by spending time with all her grandchildren. Surviving in addition to Thomas, her husband of three years, are a son, Jim Kovach and daughter, Karen Kovach, both of Avoca; step-children, Perry (Barb) Barr of Croswell, Lana (Bill) Warren of Carsonville, Tom (Karen) Barr of Decker and Joanne (Dan) Paehlig of Carsonville; 15 grandchildren; many, many great-grandchildren and friends. She is preceded in death by a son, Jerry Kovach (1984) and two infant siblings, Jerry and Kate Butler. Her family honors the memory of Susann and invite you to visit and share memories Sunday 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale, with scripture services at 7:00 p.m. Rite of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Emmett with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Fr. Tom Kuehnemund, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Kenockee Township. Memorials are suggested to “Wishes of the Family”.
