Stella Mary Senkow

Stella Mary Senkow 95, of Emmett, a devoted wife, and mother of three, passed away peacefully in her sleep, January 3, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was born in Detroit, September 12, 1919, the daughter of the late Stanley and Stephanie (Trzcinska) Machcinski. Stella met her husband, John, back in 1949, thru mutual friends. The couple married September 3, 1950, and moved to Emmett where they raised their three children. They were married 35 years before John passed away November 27, 1984. Stella was raised in Detroit with her family. They later moved to Smiths Creek where Stella worked many years as a secretary for Chrysler in Marysville. It was then she developed a taste for fine clothing and everything about art. She took many still life classes in Detroit and later years in oil classes in Yale and an art appreciation class at St. Clair County Community College. Stella loved her children and volunteered for every school function that she could from field trips to school room parties. She became a Girl Scout leader in Yale for many years. After her children were older, she took a job working at Redall Manufacturing in Yale until her early retirement. Stella’s passion were her oil paintings and sketches, playing cards, cooking, canning and spending as much time as she could with family. She remained a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella and will always be remembered as a loving and giving person. Surviving are her three children, John (Janet) Senkow, Janice (Bill) Mytinger, William (Nancy) Senkow; four grandchildren, Jeff Senkow, Jennifer (Kyle) Peters, John Nabozny, and Michele (Bill) Judkins; nine great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends. She is preceded in death by a sister, Vicky Andrewjeski and five brothers, Leo, Eddie, Joseph, Harry and Casmier Machcinski. The family honors the memory of Stella and invite you to visit and share memories Wednesday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale, with scripture services at 6:30 p.m. Rite of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Emmett, with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Fr. Tom Kuehnemund, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Kenockee Township.
