Rosalind Carol “Roz” Peltier Dear wife, loving mother, grandmother and our special friend passed away on December 22, 2010 at the age of 70. She was born on October 14, 1940 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Violet (nee LaBean) Wells. She was raised in Warren, MI and married James Phillip Peltier on August 17, 1957. They moved to Yale in 1974 to raise their seven children. Roz was an avid reader, baker and loved to play bingo and go to the casino. She enjoyed playing games, especially video games with her grandchildren, and all kinds of card games with family and friends. She learned how to, and loved, playing card games and scrabble online with her daughters. The holidays were her favorite time of the year. She made special preparations of meals and desserts with family and friends. Christmas was most dear to her. She started many traditions for her family. She created a ‘cookie tree’ for her children every Christmas. A tree filled with her wonderful iced cut-out cookies, all shapes, and colors. She enjoyed baking cookies for all occasions that were enjoyed by family, friends, and organizations. She was a proud member of the Yale community and loved being involved in her children’s activities and volunteering by offering her services when needed, from past President of Sports Boosters, founding the Yale Wrestlerettes, to supporting the passage of mileages during the 1980’s. She was awarded Friend of the Youth by Yale Public Schools for her many contributions. Roz worked and managed several local convenience stores and along the way touched many people’s lives. She later became a member of Friends of the Library, Yale Branch, which was very dear to her. She will be greatly missed by her loving family, her husband James; children David (Terri), Denise McCall, James (Kelly), Kenneth, Dorothy (Jose’ Carmen) Garcia, Carol Ann and Rebecca (Daniel) Benedict; grandchildren, Michael, Derek (Nichole), Melissa (Matt Fahey) and Aaron Peltier; Amanda (Jeremy Reusser) Vahey; David and Elizabeth McCall; Kenneth Peltier and Pedro, Jose’ and Juan Garcia, great-grandsons, Brandon and Lucas Peltier, Cole Peltier and Cade Reusser; dear sister, Gayle Brdak, brother-in- law, Michael (Sue) Peltier, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by infant grandson David James, sisters and brothers Lawrence, Barbara (Walter) Kostrach, Josephine (Richard) Max, Gerald (Kathy) Wells and Delbert Wells. Brother in laws William, Gary (Sandy) and sister-in- law Elizabeth (George) Farrand. Her family honors the memory of Roz and invites you to visit and share memories Monday from 2:30 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale, with rosary devotion at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday. Rite of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yale. Fr. Joe Gagnon, interim pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Yale.
