Roger Dorland McClelland

Roger Dorland McClelland entered in eternal life on September 13, 2014 at home at the age of 81. Roger was born on April 28, 1933, in Southfield, Michigan to Anna (Hayes) and Harvey Lee McClelland. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1951, and Lawrence Technological Institute. Roger served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Roger married Genevieve Rose Brennan in 1960. She preceded him in death in 2009. Roger was a member of the Emmett Fire Department for 35 years and Mayor of the Village of Emmett in the 1970s and 1980s. He was a member of the American Legion Merrick Potter Post #566, a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Parish. Roger worked as a farmer, contractor, and carpenter throughout his life. He could fix anything and worked on countless homes and businesses in the area. Roger is survived by his eleven children, Dave (Bobbie) of Emmett, Margaret (Bob) Austin of Yale, Paul (Carol) of Port Huron, Patrick of Emmett, Ronald (Wendy) of Avoca, William of Emmett, Rose (Eric) Orr of Doniphan, Missouri, Lorraine (Bryan) Parker of Roseville, Gerald (Jennie) of Port Huron, Larry (Jennifer) of Emmett, Roger of Port Huron; his beloved 26 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his sister, Anne Leone Bishop of Lambs, and brothers, Andrew of Riley, Harvey Lee of Tennessee, Richard of Wales and Robert of Mississippi, as well as many nieces , nephews and friends. Roger was preceded in death by his sister Reta Luitink, brother, James and grandson, Paul Joseph McClelland. The family honors the memory of Roger and invite you to visit and share memories Tuesday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond, with a fireman’s service followed with a rosary devotion at 7:00 p.m. Rite of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Emmett, with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Fr. Philip Ching, pastor of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Richmond, will officiate. Inurnment will be in Our Lady of Mt.
