Rita Cecelia Rodzos

Rita Cecelia Rodzos 82, of Riley Township, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at home. She was born September 22, 1927, in Richmond the daughter of the late William and Mary (Chrzanowski) Mucha. Her marriage to Charlie Frank Rodzos was January 7, 1946, in Bowling Green, Ohio. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Emmett. Rita grew up on a farm on north Riley Center Road and met the love of her life from a farm on south Riley Center Road. Together they raised their family on a farm in Riley Center. She operated the tractor, truck, combine and grain dryer while still having a full sit-down meal everyday for her family and friends. Dinner was promptly at noon and supper at 6 pm. If you weren’t there, it was your loss, but there was hardly ever a meal with an empty chair. She loved cooking, canning, flower and vegetable gardening and bowling. She is survived by her husband Charlie, of 64 years; children, Sharon (Frank) Haggerty of Avoca, Charlene (Michael) Golembiewski of Goodells, Joyce (Keith) Maliskey of Riley, Brenda Carl of Marine City, Donald Rodzos of Memphis, and Ronald Rodzos of Riley; 11 grandchildren, Michelle Guiterrez, Michael Haggerty, Renee Rodzos, Kevin and Kenneth Golembiewski, Blake and Brant Cottington, Lisa and Mark Maliskey, and Ryan and Rachel Rodzos, three great grandchildren, Gwen, Cora, and Ruby Golembiewski; sisters, Sylvia Dixon, Shirley Miller, and Janet Ballor and special caregiver Renae Dusett. She is preceded in death by her children, Linda Rodzos, Denise Cottington and Edmund Rodzos, sisters, Virginia, Leona, and Delphine, brothers, Edmund, George, and Melvin and son-in-law Donald Carl. She is sadly missed by many other family and friends. Her family honors the memory of Rita and invites you to visit and share memories Friday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond, with rosary devotion at 7:00 p.m. Rite of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Holy Family Parish, Memphis, with 12:30 p.m. visiting. Fr. Joseph Horn, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-Kenockee Cemetery, Kenockee Township.
