Peter DeMiglio

Peter DeMiglio 84, of Memphis, passed away after a brief illness Monday, May 26, 2014 at St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron Hospital. He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, August 6, 1929, the son of the late Antonio and Julia (Elia) DeMiglio. His marriage to June Ann Seifert was October 10, 1959, at All Saints Catholic Church, Memphis. June died June 4, 1999. Peter served his country from 1947 to 1950 with the United States Army as a tank gunner during the Korean War. Peter was a parishioner of Holy Family Parish, Memphis, and a prior member of the Knights of Columbus and James Coleman VFW Post #6802, Richmond. Peter served his apprenticeship with the Pennsylvania Rail Road which lasted 3 years. Peter sang and played the bass guitar with his band “The Tunesters”. They traveled across the country for 20 years performing in every state except Hawaii. He sang for weddings and continued singing for the Holy Family Parish Church parishioners. He was a master salesman for 10 years in the early 1970’s for Fruin/Skinner Auto Sales, Richmond and had worked for Semco Energy in Marketing for 10 years until his retirement in 1994. Peter was the life of the party but always showed his children the importance of God and family whom he loved dearly. Surviving are two sons, Peter (Georgina) of Macomb and Kenneth (Brenda) DeMiglio of Richmond, and four daughters, Julieanne (Terry) Hoist of Yale, Rosemarie (Steve) Chrcek of Marysville, Suzette (John) Sulkowski of Richmond and Christina DeMiglio of Macomb; 12 grandchildren, Nicole, Heidi, Toni, Jacob, Brittany, Joshua, Natalie, Olivia, Elizabeth, Dominic, Damian and Dante; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Aiden; three brothers, Joe (Armida) of N.J., Paul (Sonya) of OH, and Ron (Linda) DeMiglio of N.J. and three sisters, Frances (Cozzi) Ferrara, Angie (Adolph) Vigna both of New Jersey, Rachel (Joe) Lee of Connecticut; sister-in-law, Dianne Amama of New Baltimore as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. The family honors the memory of Peter and invite you to visit and share memories Thursday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond, with rosary devotion/scripture services at 7:00 p.m. Rite of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Parish, Memphis, with 10:00 a.m. visiting.
