Nancy Lynn Poppe Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Nancy Lynn Poppe 47, of Columbus Township, died Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Mt. Clemens Regional Hospital, after a long illness. She was born December 7, 1963 in Memphis the daughter of John and Mary Ann (Dennis) Hayes. Her marriage to Michael Poppe was August 20, 1982 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Richmond. Nancy was recently baptized in the catholic faith. She was a part-time bus driver for Richmond and East China Schools and other areas. She was very passionate about helping specials needs children. She had been very active in raising her sons and served as their soccer and little league coach and participating in wrestling activities. She was a member of the Blue Star Moms in support of her son Adam who was stationed in Afghanistan. Nancy loved all animals and pets and enjoyed gardening, antiques, bowling, scrabble, camping up north, training dogs, and working with stained glass. She was known as the world's best cook and for her caring and taking care of people. Surviving in addition to her husband Mike of 29 years are her three sons Michael of Fort Wayne, IN, and Adam and Jacob both of Columbus Twp; mother, Mary Ann Dennis of Roseville; twin brother, Robert (Cathy) Hayes of Smiths Creek and sisters, Irene (Don) Syme of GA, Dorothy (Doug) Smalley and Susan Schmidt, both of St. Clair; mother-in-law, Betty Poppe of St. Clair, sister-in-law, Linda Richards of R.I., two brothers-in-law, Ron (Dawn) Poppe of St. Clair and Fred Poppe of Casco and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, John Hayes, stepfather, Doug Dennis and father-in-law Fred Poppe. Her family honors the memory of Nancy and invites you to visit and share memories Tuesday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond.
