Leonard H. Scheuer

Leonard H. Scheuer 83, of Lenox, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit. He was born in Detroit, May 2, 1930, the son of the late Leonard and Elizabeth Warner Scheuer. His marriage to Joan Cecelia Schultz on November 4, 1950, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Richmond. Joan died January 14, 2011. Leonard found love again and married Elizabeth Kiesell on April 24, 2012, at St. George Catholic Church, Arizona. Leonard served his country with the United States Army during the Korea Conflict. Leonard attended St. Augustine Catholic Church and was a member of Knights of Columbus, Richmond Assembly #2667. He owned and operated Paramount Bar Hotel in New Haven for 25 years before closing in 1978. He then started Phoenix Travel of Richmond and operated it for 30 years. Leonard loved to travel and enjoyed woodworking. Surviving in addition to his wife Elizabeth are his ten children, Leonard (Donna) Scheuer of Lenox, Mary Joan (Thomas) Ballor of St. Clair, Kathleen (Dennis) Van Wagoner of Rochester, Rosemarie Scheuer, Green Valley, AZ, Bernadette (Walter) Russell, Lenox, John (Patricia) Scheuer, Atlanta, GA, Paula Fitzsimons of Lenox, Elizabeth (Darren) Murphy of Washington Twp, Patrick (Therese) Scheuer of Burtchville, Michael (Tammy) Scheuer of Lenox; step-children, Timothy (Claudia) Kiesell of Arizona, David Kiesell of Washington and Kristin (Sam) Cone of Arkansas; 27 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Doc (Patricia) Scheuer of Richmond, Marie Whiter of Clinton Township and Theresa (Duane) Zurek of Washington; as well as many loving nieces and nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Robert Whiter. The family honors the memory of Leonard and invite you to visit and share memories Sunday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond, with rosary devotion by the Knights of Columbus at 7:00 p.m. Rite of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Richmond, with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Fr. Phillip Ching, associate pastor will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Richmond. Memorials are suggested to “Wishes of the Family”.
