Helen Gutt-Brodacki Riley

Helen M. Gutt-Brodacki Riley 77, a lifelong resident of Richmond, passed away on Sunday May 7, 2006 at home. She was born February 26, 1929 in Richmond the daughter of the late Albert and Catherine Sworzen Gutt. Her marriage to John P. Brodacki was February 7, 1948 in Gulfport, Mississippi. John passed away August 13, 1973. Her marriage to Donald L. Riley was May 8, 1975 in Richmond. Donald passed away March 2, 1991. Helen had farmed for many years and was a parishioner of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Richmond. She was a member of Daughters of Isabella, National Council of Catholic Women, St. Augustine Adult Choir, and the Altar Sodality. She volunteered for funeral luncheons and created rosaries for distribution to missionaries. She was the very first Life Member of Richmond Post# 6802 VFW Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of the Armada Forever Young Seniors (FYS). Surviving are 4 daughters and 2 sons-in-law Cynthia Williams of Shelby Twp., Catherine and James Kaatz of Richmond, Constance Miller of Richmond and Carolyn and Daniel Koleda of Shelby Twp., son and daughter-in-law John and Susan Brodacki of Richmond; 2 step-daughters Jeanette and Clare Rose of VA, and Dorothy and John Ashcraft of PA; 9 grandchildren Jonathan, Brent and Katie Williams, Erica and Andrew Douglas, Brandon Brodacki and Bridgette Bondy, Lindsey, Joshua, and Ashley Brodacki and Evan and Ryan Koleda; great-granddaughter Bella Bondy; several step-grandchildren; brother Edward Good of CA, seven godchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Angela Benson and brothers Thaddeus, Joseph and Francis Gutt. Her family honors the memory of Helen and invites you to visit and share Monday 6:00 to 8:00 and Tuesday 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond. Rite of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Richmond, with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Fr. Joseph Plawecki, pastor, will officiate. Rosary devotion/scripture services with Fr. James Commyn will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Richmond.
