Frank Henry Heid

Frank Henry Heid 75, of Richmond Township, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Cleveland Clinic, Ohio. He was born in Detroit, February 13, 1938, the son of the late Kaspar and Marie Katherine (Zitter) Heid. His marriage to Kathryn E. Walker was February 6, 1965, at St. Raymond Church, Detroit. Frank was a family man who lived his life by simple values. Love God. Love yourself. Love your family. Work hard. Be independent. Help others. He was a man of many roles. A son, husband and father. Mentor, role model and friend. Farmer, student, engineer. Jack of all trades: carpenter, welder, electrician, plumber, mechanic and duct taper. Golfer, singer, accordionist and outdoorsman. And regardless of the task, he enjoyed the work. Work was his thing. What was he like personally? Quick with a grin. Always sincere when he asked how you were. Mentally and physically tough as nails, but a big softie under that exterior. A tough father when he needed to be, and dedicated to the best interests of the family. He will be missed. Greatly. We are fortunate to have had 75 years with him. To have been able to share him with all of you. Today, we are fortunate to have many of his family, friends and co-workers near to share in our sorrow, and to revel in memories and stories of him. Some laughs. Some tears. An appropriate sendoff for a truely great guy who has been called home. Whatever he was to you, or however you knew him, he left a lasting impact on everyone he touched. We can all take a page from his book, and a lesson from his legacy to make this world a better place. Surviving in addition to Kathryn, his wife of 48 years, are two sons, Karl (Kelly) of Macomb Township and Paul (Wendy) Heid of St. Clair, and a daughter, Kristina (Jeremy) Syrocki of Grosse Ile; eight grandchildren, Katy, Kyle, Hannah, Luke, Kalvin, Brianna, Braydon and Christian, as well as many friends. The family honors the memory of Frank and invite you to visit and share memories Saturday 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond, with “A time of sharing” at 6:00 p.m. Rite of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Richmond.
