Elmer Bettcher Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Elmer Walter Bettcher 97, of Richmond died Friday evening February 11, 2011, at home. He was born Sunday, September 7, 1913, in Macomb Twp.the son of the late John and Molly (Eisenhardt) Bettcher. His marriage to Lillian Beardsley was Wednesday, January 5, 1938, in Angola, IN. Elmer was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Richmond and a lifelong self-employed area resident. He owned and operated Bettcher’s Feed Store in the former Katie’s Corner from 1940 to 1950 and Bettcher’s Nursery, Mt. Clemens, for over 50 years until his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking and treasured summers at Van Ettan Lake and hunting at Hubbard Lake. Surviving in addition to his wife Lillian of 73 years are two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Gerald Erdman of Palms, Kristine and Robert Walter of Casco and son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Maria Bettcher of Casco; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Hintz of Macomb and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter Carol Barney (2006) and siblings, Carl, Arthur, Mabel Collin and Florence Hurttgam. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Rev. Kelsay Parker, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Richmond, will officiate.
