Donald Ray Cook Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Donald Ray Cook 61, of Mussey Township, died Tuesday morning October 2, 2012 at home following a courageous battle against cancer. He was born Thursday, January 4, 1951 in Pontiac the son of the late Raymond and Priscilla (Goffnett) Cook. His marriage to Lynn Holcomb was Friday, October 24, 1969 at the Imlay City Baptist Church. Don was a 35-year former member of the Church of Believers, Yale, and current member of Yale United Methodist Church. He was a bricklayer and mason for 30 years and was employed by the B.A.C Local #1 for 12 years until his retirement in 2008. Don had a heart for helping others. loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, trapping and hunting. If he needed something and did not have it, he would make it himself. Surviving in addition to his wife Lynn of nearly 43 years are a son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Jenny of Mt. Morris, two daughters and a son-in-law, April Ludden of New Hudson and Michelle and Cory Garcia of Yale; seven grandchildren, Coty and Austin Cook, Alexander and Nicholas Ludden and Tressa, Gabriel and Elijah Garcia; sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Frank Kovach of Yale and brother, Alan Cook of Vassar; nieces and nephews, Kevin and Ken Kovach, Kimberly Hunt and Tina Dillon; stepbrothers, Bill and John and step sisters, Carol and Sandy; father-in-law, Glen Holcomb; brother-in-law, Lyle Holcomb and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Eric Ludden and sister, Carol Miller. His family honors the memory of Donald and invites you to visit Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a sharing of memories at 6:00p.m., at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Yale United Methodist Church, Yale, with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Rev. Bruce Nowacek, pastor, and son, Rev. Troy Cook, will co-officiate.
