Danny Lee Hillis

Danny Lee Hillis 60, of Emmett Township died Monday May 15, 2006 at home. He was born September 20, 1945 in Port Huron, Michigan the son of Harold and Ila Hillis. His marriage to Marion Johnson of Goodells was January 23,1970 in Yale. He was 1964 graduate of Yale High School. Dan served his country with the U. S. Army from 1965-1967. He was employed by Detroit Edison as a power plant operator for 33 years. He was active in the Utility Workers Union of America Local #223 and was a former chairman of the Greenwood and Marysville power plants for many years until his retirement in June of 2003. Dan enjoyed hunting, horseback riding, playing pool, and sports of all kinds. He managed his sons little league baseball teams for many years and never missed any of his sons football and basketball games through four years of high school. Surviving in addition to his wife, Marion of 35 years are 2 sons and a daughter-in-law Jason and Rachel Hillis of Emmett, Craig Hillis and fiancée Stephanie Trogden of Avoca; 3 grandchildren, Ashley, Tyler, and Ryan Hillis of Emmett; his father, Harold Hillis of Emmett; brother and sister-in-law, David and Barb Hillis of Greenfield, IN, 2 sisters and a brother-in-law Karen Thorner of Ft. Gratiot, and Linda and Dave Bugajski of Wales; mother-in-law, Eileen Johnson of Kenockee; longtime friends Denny and Verna Roy of Yale; 26 sisters and brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Ila Hillis; sister, Susan Keillor; and brothers-in-law, Russ and Bruce Johnson, George Jacobson, and Jerry Neaton. His family honors the memory of Dan and invite you to visit and share Wednesday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m.at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale. Rite of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Emmett, with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Fr. Paul Czarnota, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Kenockee Cemetery, Kenockee Township. Pallbearers will be Trevor and Jared Thorner, Philip Parrish, Denny Roy, Jr., Sean Quain, and Jason LaMay.
