Carl J. Murray Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Carl J. Murray 93, of Fort Gratiot died Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Regency on the Lake-Fort Gratiot. He was born August 27, 1919 in Lynn Township the son of the late Howard and Ethel (Thomas) Murray. His marriage to Rhea A. Hilborn was December 27, 1941 in Yale. Carl grew up on a Lynn Township crop and dairy farm working many years with his father and brothers. He was employed by the former Yale Woolen Mill in the spinning room, Mueller Brass, Port Huron for 29 years and co-owner and operator of Yale Metal Works, Inc. with his son Larry until his retirement in 1976. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Yale where he was a former elder and usher. He loved camping and spent over 25 years ib Florida. He enjoyed working with stained glass and was a bird watcher. Surviving in addition to his wife Rhea of 71 years are a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Mary Murray of Clyde Township, daughter and son-in-law, Sharron and Jerry Schafer of Freeland; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother Howard, sister, Betty Marks and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Leonard; grandson, Tony Murray, granddaughter, Michelle Murray; and three brothers, Max, Ray and Roy. His family honors the memory of Carl and invite you to visit and share memories Wednesday September 19, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale, with memorial services at 7:00 p.m. Rev.
