Bernadine Margaret Kraemer

Bernadine Margaret Kraemer 81, of Yale, died Saturday morning June 23, 2007 at MediLodge of Yale. She was born March 14, 1926 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Louis and Anna Rabe Martin. Her marriage to Kenneth Kraemer was January 26, 1952 in Detroit. Kenneth passed away March 8, 1992. Bernadine was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yale, and of its Altar Society. She was employed as a longtime secretary for various insurance agencies and was a homemaker and seamstress. She re-entered the work force in 1994 at the age of 68 and worked retail at Super K-Mart in Port Huron for a couple of years until she got a nice job at J.C. Penny in Fort Gratiot. She retired in 2001 at the age of 75 - being J.C. Penney's most senior employee. Her hobbies include sewing, traveling, gabbing with friends and most of all, spending time with her family. She enjoyed reading, mostly mysteries and romance novels and listening to music, mostly from the Big Band era. Bernadine and her husband were big dancers during their “hey-days”, and enjoyed visiting with lifetime friends and playing cards. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law Cheri and Dale Long of Yale, son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Pat Kraemer of Suttons Bay; three grandchildren Russ, Katie, and Laura ; two step-grandchildren Dale Jr. and Kim; several great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Marie and Nick Wambach of Roscommon and Joan Martin of Yale; three sisters-in-law Grace, Barbara and Earline; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by brothers Leonard, George and Lawrence and sisters Phyllis and Rita. Her family honors the memory of Bernadine and invite you to visit and share Monday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale. Rite of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yale. Fr. Thomas Ebong, pastor of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Detroit, will officiate.
