Albert William Kovatch

Albert W. Kovatch 60, of Brockway Township, died peacefully in his home, Tuesday, June 19, 2012 after suffering with a long illness. Al was born at Port Huron Hospital, May 20, 1952, the son of Albert A. and Roberta Annette Kovatch. He married his long time sweetheart, Mary Elizabeth Bondy, in 1971. They have made their home in Yale, MI. They have one son, Eric, who is a teacher and a coach. Al graduated from Yale High School in 1970. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy and served for four years as an operational specialist. After his honorable discharge, he went to St. Clair Community College where he earned his degree in criminal justice. He then attended both the University of Michigan and Wayne State University. He was an iron worker for some years before working for the US Postal Service where he was a letter carrier in his hometown of Yale until he retired in 2002 due to heath reasons. Al is a member of the Peck American Legion. As an active father, he coached baseball for many years. He enjoyed watching his son play sports as well as his nephews and nieces. Also, he was a member of the Yale Presbyterian Church. Albert is survived by Mary, his wife of 40 years; a son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Shaun Kovatch of Westland; granddaughters, Kinsey and Daniela; brother Aaron (Sue) Kovatch of Yale and sisters, Alicia (Russ) Rawlins of Yale and Alleida (Norm) Bringard of Roseburg and Zephierhills, Florida; sister-in-law, Diane (Lon) Rutkofske of Marysville and brother-in-law, Michael (Dinah) Bondy of Palmdale, California, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, in particular Paul Bringard of Lakeport. Al will be greatly missed by his wife, family, friends, and his little dog and constant companion, Irene. He is preceded in death by his parents, Al and Roberta Kovatch, his in-laws, Don and Rita Bondy, and infant granddaughter, Ameila Mary Kovatch. His family honors the memory of Al and invites you to visit and share memories Sunday 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Yale with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Rev.
