John Patrick Malloy

John Patrick Malloy, 82, of Lexington, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2009 at his winter home in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born in Detroit, December 15, 1927, the son of the late Patrick and Dorothy (Wren) Malloy. His marriage to Rose Ann Pierce was September 29, 1975 in Warren. John served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Lexington, Croswell American Legion, and Elks Club Sun City. John was a 1945 Pershing High School Graduate. He served as a Detroit police officer; was a general manager for LeTarte Enterprises, Smith Creek; and retired in 1986 from Chrysler Corp., Sterling Heights. John most enjoyed attending his church, spending time with his family and friends, trips to the casino, winters in Arizona and summers in Lexington. His smile and laughter were contagious and everyone looked forward to his visits as he would share his great words of wisdom and wit. He will be sadly missed. Surviving in addition to Rose Ann, his wife of 34 years, are five daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl (John Gallinagh) Fisher of Algonac, Patty (Dick) Hunter of Capac, Nancy (Chuck) Goubert of Lexington, Maureen (John) Elmore of Indiana, Lynn (Lawrence) Britt of Nevada; two sons and daughters-in-law, John (Denise) of Clinton Twp and Bill (Mary Jane) Malloy of Capac; four step-children, Doug (Juanita) Hunter of Yale, Dean (Anne) Hunter of AZ, Dan Hunter of AZ, and Darla (Jim) Detroyer of Riley; 25 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; a brother Leonard Malloy of Lexington, sister Patricia ( Mel) Ziske of Lexington, sister-in-law, Edna Bartlett of Port Huron and sister-in-law, Maggie (Jack) Kinney of Emmett and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceding his death is a daughter Mary Ann, brother William, killed in Korea, sister-in-law, Patricia Malloy, brothers-in-law, Chuck Finn and Bart Bartlett, granddaughters Casey Hayes and Jamie Marie Hunter and great-grandson Joseph Attenborough. His family honors the memory of John and invites you to visit and share memories Monday 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Capac. Rosary devotion services will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Rite of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Nicolas Catholic Church, Capac. Fr. Donald Eppenbrock, retired pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Kenockee Cemetery, Emmett. Memorials are suggested to “Wishes of the Family”.
